Frequently asked questions
Everything owners ask before licensing their company's data.
Selling your data
What does Paid4Data do?
We license de-identified business records, like CRM, accounting, and support history, to AI labs and data buyers, and pay the company that owns them.
What kinds of businesses qualify?
Most operating businesses with a few years of history in systems like Salesforce, HubSpot, Xero, QuickBooks, an ERP, or a helpdesk. See all 91 industries we work with.
What data is most valuable?
Records that show how work gets done: notes, emails, status changes, and revisions, not just totals. Years of history across connected systems are worth the most.
Do I have to sell everything?
No. You choose which systems, date ranges, and accounts are included, and can exclude anything.
What should I prepare before the call?
A data inventory: each system you use, the years you can export from it, and roughly how much data it holds. It's the fastest way to a real valuation.
Payment
How much will I be paid?
It depends on volume, history, systems, quality, and buyer demand. The estimator gives a ballpark; the license sets your share. Our deal terms guide explains the rest.
When do I get paid?
Buyers usually get a 30-day acceptance window to confirm the dataset matches what was described, then pay on net terms, often 60 days. We pay you within 7 days of their payment clearing.
Can my data sell more than once?
Usually not right away. Most AI buyers ask for a two-year exclusive window. What happens after it ends depends on the license, and we explain the tradeoffs before you sign.
Is there any cost to me?
No. There are no fees to get an estimate, sign up, or have your data processed.
Privacy and legal
Will my customers be exposed?
No. Customer, supplier, and employee identifiers are removed before any buyer sees the data, and buyers are contractually barred from re-identification.
Am I allowed to sell my company's data?
Usually, if you own it and your customer contracts and privacy notices allow it. We review this with you on the scoping call. This isn't legal advice, and your lawyer can review the license.
What data won't you accept?
Patient health records, payment card and bank account numbers, government ID numbers, biometric data, and data about children.
Do you sign an NDA?
Yes, a mutual NDA before the scoping call.
Process
How long does it take?
Most companies go from first call to a signed license in three to five weeks. Payment follows the buyer's acceptance and payment terms, usually two to three months after delivery.
How much of my team's time is needed?
One 30-minute call, signing the documents, and running exports, usually a few hours in total.
How do I send the data?
Through a secure upload link or temporary read-only access. Never by email.
Who are the buyers?
AI labs, AI data companies, and research teams building and evaluating models.
