How to sell your business data to AI companies
A plain guide for owners and finance leads: what AI labs buy, what it's worth, and how to do it without exposing your customers.
Why AI labs are buying business data
Large language models were trained on the public internet, and that supply is largely used up. What models still lack is examples of real work done start to finish: a quote revised three times, an invoice dispute resolved, a month-end close reviewed and corrected. That record lives inside private business systems, so labs license it directly from companies.
What kinds of data sell
- CRM history: accounts, opportunities, activities, and notes from Salesforce or HubSpot.
- Finance records: invoices, bills, and journals from Xero or QuickBooks.
- Support and tickets: Zendesk, ServiceNow, or shared inbox threads.
- Documents: SOPs, contracts, proposals, and reports.
- Industry systems: ERP, WMS, or job management exports.
The more of the process the records show, the more valuable they are. Final numbers alone are worth far less than the notes, emails, and status changes around them.
What determines the price
Team size, years of history, volume, the number of systems, data quality, and current buyer demand for your industry. Most AI buyers ask for a two-year exclusive window, and a shorter one usually costs some of the price.
How to protect your customers
Only share data under a written license that lists every approved source, requires removal of names and identifiers before any buyer access, deletes raw exports after processing, and bars buyers from re-identification. Check your customer contracts for confidentiality clauses first.
The process with Paid4Data
- Get a ballpark estimate in about a minute.
- Book a 30-minute scoping call, under a mutual NDA.
- Sign the data license and approve your sources.
- Export the approved data or grant read-only access.
- We de-identify, package, and license it to AI labs.
- After the buyer's acceptance window (usually 30 days) and payment terms (often net 60), you're paid within 7 days of their payment clearing.
Common questions
Can I sell my company's data to AI companies?
Yes, if you own it and your customer contracts and privacy obligations allow it. AI labs license real business records, such as CRM, invoicing, and support history, once identifying details are removed.
How much is business data worth to AI labs?
It depends on volume, years of history, which systems it comes from, and how much of the actual workflow it shows. Established operating companies typically see one-time payouts from five to six figures. Our estimator gives a ballpark in a minute.
Will my customers' information be shared?
No. Names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, and account numbers are removed before any buyer sees the data, and buyers are contractually barred from re-identifying anyone.
What data can't be sold?
Paid4Data does not accept protected health information, patient records, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, or data about children.
How long does it take?
Most companies go from first call to a signed license in three to five weeks. Payment follows the buyer's acceptance and payment terms, usually two to three months after delivery.
